The Staff Council for hosted the STARS Winter Warmer this week.
The Staff Council Co-chairs Alana and Kristiana told us there were over 450 staff who visited the Level 3 staff room to enjoy some food and meet the council members. There were also sweet treats delivered to the after hours staff. A big thank you to everyone involved with this lovely activity.
The Staff Council is all about gaining your views on what we are doing well and what we can improve at STARS. If you’d like to provide some feedback, fill in the online feedback form.
NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC Week (3 – 10 July 2022) celebrations are held across Australia to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme is Get Up! Stand Up! Show up!
As part of these celebrations and acknowledgement, Metro North Health is hosting a virtual NAIDOC event each day during NAIDOC Week that can be accessed for everyone to enjoy and accessible via:
STARS will be celebrating and acknowledging NAIDOC Week by launching our beautiful Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artwork that was created by Elaine Chambers and Monique Proud.
Once we launch this artwork on Tuesday we’ll send you some pictures of the work – it’s really lovely.

Many of our staff continue to be unwell with COVID, flu and other respiratory illnesses. If that’s you at the moment, we’re thinking of you – rest up and we hope you get well soon.
Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to cover these absences. There remains significant demand for care across the health service, and STARS helps out through keeping our beds full and maximising capacity across our procedural and ambulatory services. Thank you to everyone for your role in keeping our patient care flowing. You are all contributing to the health and wellbeing of our community.
Thank you again for your hard work and support. For those of you lucky enough to not be working this weekend, enjoy your time off and stay dry. To those of you working this weekend, thank you for your commitment and dedication to our patients.
