There are many teams and individuals across our service who are unsung heroes who don’t get the accolades that they deserve.
As part of National Stroke Week, I want to share Bob’s story and the work of the Community Based Rehabilitation Team (CBRT).
Bob is a patient that has been cared for by CBRT since his stroke in June and release from Redcliffe Hospital.
While the last few months have been a very difficult time for Bob it has also been a period of reflection and recovery.
Bob, who has his 89th birthday just around the corner, was quickly able to get back into some of the things he enjoys with the support of his family and the CBRT team including life in the garden and playing lawn bowls.
Thank you to this wonderful, compassionate team who always put the patient first and who are clearly one of our unsung heroes!
FAST
National Stroke Week is an important time to celebrate life and the moments that you enjoy with your loved ones.
It is important for us to help others to keep enjoying precious moments too by sharing the F.A.S.T. signs of stroke message with family and friends.
- Face
- Arms
- Speech
- Time.
More detail about this can be found on the Stroke Foundation website.
But if you or someone you know experiences the signs of stroke, no matter how long they last, call triple zero (000) immediately.
Ekka time at Cooinda!
Our staff are always finding ways to bring joy to the residents at Cooinda and Gannet House.
Yesterday, the Ekka came to Cooinda House and the residents absolutely loved it!
Well done team, hope you don’t mind me sharing so many photos from a great day.
Only a week to go
There is only one week to go to nominate those unsung heroes for an COH Staff Excellence Award. We have received close to 60 nominations but happy to receive more!
You can easily nominate a colleague or team.
