Our charity partner, The Common Good, will host its inaugural Caboolture Hospital Giving Day on Wednesday 30 November.

Similar events have been held at other hospitals across Metro North and throughout Australia, so I’m excited that the Caboolture Hospital community will soon be able to show their support of their local hospital and give generously to The Common Good appeal.

The Giving Day theme for 2022 is about helping our elderly patients get home from hospital sooner and limit the likelihood of them returning. A worthy cause.

The Common Good is also very keen for wards and work areas to host their own fundraisers – big or small – which will contribute to the overall fundraising goal. The Common Good has put together a range of helpful ideas in this blog article to start the ball rolling.

Also, if you have an idea for a project that you would like The Common Good to consider providing funding support, email Mick Dwane with the project scope, patient benefits and funds required.

The Common Good is also hosting a charity golf day at Pacific Harbour Golf and Country Club on Friday 28 October with funds raised to support initiatives at Caboolture Hospital. Teams of four are still being sought for this event, so if you’re a keen golfer – or know someone who is – click here for more information.

Ongoing support from The Common Good means that we can provide additional services and facilities that improve the health of our community beyond what we are currently funded and progress amazing research opportunities. Let’s help as much as we can!

Metro North Health Listening Post campaign advertisementHave Your Say at The Listening Post

Metro North Health Chief Executive Jackie Hanson and Chief Operating Officer Jane Hancock will visit Caboolture Hospital on Tuesday morning for the inaugural ‘Listening Post’ event.

Much like previous ‘Chat with the Chief’ events, this is a great opportunity to have your say, provide feedback and ask questions directly to the two most senior members of the Metro North executive team.

The Listening Post will be set up in the Caboolture Hospital Central Courtyard on Tuesday 11 October from 10am to 12pm.

CKW Research Symposium on Thursday

One of our many strengths is that we have a strong research culture at CKW.  Our Research Symposium on Thursday morning will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase our achievements in this area with a diverse range of presentations, including nursing, allied health, pharmacy, medicine and mental health.

The symposium will be held on Thursday 13 October from 9am to 1pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend in person at the Lecture Theatre or online via Microsoft Teams.

More details including the program is available on the CKW Research Development Unit website.

CKW Operational Services teamOperational Services Day

Our Operational Services team do a wonderful job helping staff, patients and the community.

They have such an important role supporting the delivery of quality and effective healthcare at Caboolture and Kilcoy hospitals.

The team is always busy helping move patients around the facility, performing regular cleaning, delivering linen, organising waste management, clearing beds and basically maintaining a safe and clean environment that are all essential parts of any hospital.

Operational Support Staff Appreciation Week was this week.

International Infection Prevention Week 2022International Infection Prevention Week

International Infection Prevention Week starts on Monday 16 October.

The theme this year is ‘The future is Infection Prevention: 50 Years of Infection Prevention’ to highlight the progress made during the last 50 years regarding infection prevention.

Since the commencement of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, we have observed standard and transmission-based precautions when caring for our suspect or confirmed COVID-19 cases.

GAMA healthcare is running a competition during International Infection Prevention Week. More details are available here. Our Infection Control team can pass on your entries to GAMA.

What a compliment!

Here’s a short and sweet compliment received recently for the Ward 2A team:

“The nurses were amazing every single one of them. Even faced with difficult patients they were commendable.”

Finally,

Last week, I invited you to the launch of the Caboolture and Kilcoy Hospitals and Woodford Corrections Health Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

The event will be held on Wednesday 2 November from 10.30am-12.30pm. However, we’ve changed the venue from Morayfield to the Caboolture Hub on Hasking Street (level 2).

Everyone is welcome. For more information or to RSVP, email ckw-engage@health.qld.gov.au

Take care,

Angie
