RBWH patient Ross Connelly didn’t think he was going to live to meet his granddaughter, but thanks to the team at RBWH, STARS, the Princess Alexandra Hospital, and an incredible organ donor, he was recently able to fly to New Zealand to do just that.
“I spent more than six months in hospital with liver disease and at one point I was given two weeks to live,” said Ross.
He was determined to give himself a second chance at life, which led him on a journey to rehabilitation at STARS, before he was provided with the priceless opportunity to receive a new liver.
“I’m so grateful my donor and to everyone who has helped me along the way,” Ross said.
Now, he is doing everything in his power to live a healthy life full of family, travel and love.
To thank the team at RBWH for helping save his life, Ross put his professional painting skills to work to create a colourful artwork which is now hanging above the reception desk in the Level 9 Gastroenterology area.
