Metro North Health Incident Controller

19 August 2021

Dear colleagues,

Yesterday Queensland announced four new COVID cases. All were overseas acquired with one case detected in hotel quarantine and three cases detected aboard a marine vessel. Today Queensland recorded no new COVID cases.

Border updates

There have been a lot of border updates over the last week or so as many Australian states and territories enter lockdown.

Currently, the Australian Capital Territory, all of New South Wales, all of Victoria and the Katherine regions are hotspots. More information is available on the Queensland Health website. Quarantine-free travel from all Australian states and territories is suspended at this time, see the New Zealand Government’s advice for more information.

Easing of restrictions

As of 4pm tomorrow, restrictions will ease in the 11 LGAs, including Brisbane. The eased restrictions include allowing:

  • up to 30 people in homes and public spaces
  • up to 100 attendees at weddings with a maximum of 20 people dancing
  • up to 100 attendees at funerals
  • community sport, with reduced spectators and in line with density requirements
  • 75 per cent ticketed and allocated seating capacity for indoor events (with COVID Safe Checklist) and
  • 75 per cent ticketed and allocated seating capacity for stadiums over 20,000 people with COVID Safe Sit Specific Plans
  • for masks to not be worn while outdoors where you can socially distance. Masks will continue to be required while indoors and you must carry a mask with you at all times when leaving your home.

Metro North to remind on Tier 1

Metro North remains on Tier 1 in our COVID response plan and moderate risk PPE, with fever clinic staff and emergency department triage staff wearing P2/N95 masks.

We have updated the PPE guidelines for healthcare delivery and for residential aged care and disability accommodation.

Helpful links

With many of us with friends and family living interstate, the rising COVID cases in particularly NSW and VIC are a sobering reminder that we are not out of the woods yet, and we must continue to take this seriously to avoid lockdowns and further restrictions. Thank you all for not only your hard work, but your teamwork too!

Regards,

Louise O’Riordan
