Metro North Health Incident Controller

22 July 2021

Dear colleagues,

The Deputy Premier and Chief Health Officer have today announced another 7 days of mandatory mask wearing in South East Queensland from 6am tomorrow. Masks must be worn at all times when outside your own home, except when you are eating or drinking.

The Queensland border will be closed to the whole of New South Wales from 1am. This means no one will be allowed to travel from New South Wales to Queensland without an exemption.

Queenslanders returning from New South Wales can enter but will need to complete 14 days of hotel quarantine.

The border zone will be in effect, with people in the Queensland/NSW border area only allowed to enter Queensland for essential purposes, including work and healthcare.

Visitors and students

From 1am tomorrow, visitors will be allowed at hospitals, aged care facilities and disability accommodation, as long as they have not been in an area of concern. All visitors and staff must wear a mask. Visitors to aged care facilities must also have proof of flu vaccination.

As our facilities are no longer restricted, from 1am tomorrow student placements are allowed even for students who have not yet had two doses of COVID vaccine.

Metro North will continue to be in moderate risk PPE for the next 7 days.

Check in

Although restrictions are easing, it’s important to continue to check in using the Check in Qld app.

Kind regards,

Louise O’Riordan
