Dear colleagues,

Good news Friday! Queensland recorded no new local cases of COVID-19 and only one in hotel quarantine.

As of 4pm today, restrictions will ease in South East Queensland, including the following LGAs: Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Logan, Redland, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Noosa, Somerset, Lockyer Valley and Scenic Rim.

The following restrictions will remain in place until 4pm Friday 10 September:

  • Face masks will continue to be required, make sure you keep one on you at all times.
  • Students who have been in an impacted area must be fully vaccinated to enter a vulnerable facility as part of a placement connected to their enrolled course of study.

Eased restrictions include:

  • Up to 100 people in your home, including people who live there
  • Up to 200 people or 1 person per 2 square metres of 100 per cent capacity with ticketed and allocated seating.
  • No density restrictions for businesses that operate only outdoors. All indoor settings can have up to one person per two square metres or 100 per cent capacity with seated, ticket allocations including stadiums.

Metro North remains on Tier 1:

Despite this ease of restrictions, Metro North will continue to remain on Tier 1 in our COVID response plan and moderate risk PPE, with fever clinic staff and emergency department triage staff wearing P2/N95 masks. We will be assessing this status over the next few weeks.

PPE guidelines are online for healthcare delivery and for residential aged care and disability accommodation.

These eased restrictions do not mean that we’re out of the woods! Please stay vigilant with social distancing, mask wearing, hand hygiene and getting tested if you show any symptoms of COVID-19. Most importantly, get vaccinated!

Regards,
