28 May 2021

Dear colleagues,

As we know, all of Victoria has been declared a COVID-19 hotspot under the Declared Hotspots Direction. This means that anyone who has been in Victoria since 11 May 2021 is subject to several requirements.

From today, anyone who has been in a COVID-19 hotspot in the last 14 days, or since the start date identified for the hotspot (whichever is shorter), will not be allowed to enter Queensland unless they are a Queensland resident.

Anyone who is allowed to enter Queensland will be required to go into 14 days mandatory hotel quarantine in Brisbane. Anyone who arrives in Queensland where there are no quarantine hotels may be moved to a location where there is hotel space available.

What if I entered Queensland yesterday?

If you entered Queensland yesterday and have been to Victoria in the last 14 days, you are required to follow the lockdown requirements set by the Victorian government. You must remain at your home or at your arranged accommodation for the duration of the lockdown. Please click here to read the list hotspot locations. Please continue to also monitor the list of interstate exposure venues.

Can I come to work if I have been in Victoria?

As per the Hospital Visitors Direction, you cannot enter a Queensland Health facility if you have been in a COVID-19 hotspot in the last 14 days.

This means that staff who have been in Victoria in the last 14 days cannot enter our facilities unless you have a valid exemption from the Queensland Chief Health Officer.

Please speak with your line manager immediately if you have been in Victoria in the last 14 days to determine an appropriate course of action. Requests for an exemption can be lodged through the COVID-19 Services Portal

What if I have been to an exposure venue?

Anyone who has been to Victoria should continue to monitor the interstate exposure venues list and monitor your symptoms. Please present immediately for a COVID-19 test if you have been to an exposure venue and isolate until you receive a negative result.

I’d like to say a special thank you today to our vaccination clinic staff and our switchboard staff. We have been inundated today with phone calls from the public and people walking into our clinics, expecting to receive a vaccination without an appointment. Thank you to our staff who continued to provide a high-level of professionalism, courtesy and compassion during what was a very busy day.

Kind regards,

Alanna Geary
