We are just eight days away from Christmas, and as I reflect back on 2021 – wow, we have achieved some exciting things. From the opening of our first digital hospital, STARS through to a huge COVID-19 response across all parts of the health service, we’ve been busy!

This year we delivered close to 3.5 million clinical activities across Metro North. Congratulations to you all for once again delivering exceptional healthcare to our community through challenging conditions.

For those who are working through, thank you. We can’t appreciate you enough for being here for our patients at what is often one of our busiest periods in certain parts of Metro North.

For those of you lucky enough to have some time off, I implore you to relish it and spend valuable time with loved ones and taking care of yourself. Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, I hope you all find some time to enjoy the holiday period.

COVID-19 cases are increasing here in Queensland upon the opening of our state borders, and we are prepared and ready to handle this as a health service. Please continue to wear your masks and follow our Incident Controller directives as the situation continues to evolve. I will also be holding a COVID-19 vidcast on Monday at 10:30am.

Today we have changes regarding the presence of unvaccinated visitors on site. Please be patient as we implement this state-wide directive and respectful of our concierge staff. We understand this can be difficult to navigate with patients and families and we encourage you to have these conversations and seek support if you need.

For some, you may still be separated from those you love even with our borders opening, and Christmas may not be a happy time of year. There are a range of wellbeing services available to you through Metro North, and I’d like to remind you of:

I wish you all a fantastic festive season. Take Care.

Regards,

Jackie
