Message from the Chief Allied Health Practitioner

2023-01-25T12:12:53+10:0023 December 2022|Chief Allied Health Practitioner|

Wishing you all a happy holiday season and I express my appreciation for all you do and have done for our care participants and thank you for your support of me, each other and our professions through 2022.

So much great work and care provided by you and our colleagues to make lives better. Thank you!

CAHRLI, in its new format, continues to support HPs and CAs to new levels of achievement in research, learning and innovation. (Learn more @ Collaborative for Allied Health Research, Learning and Innovation)

As well as all the unpromoted achievements and progress throughout MNH it was exciting to see the quantum and quality of HP award finalists, commended and award recipients at both the MNH Research and Staff Excellence awards nights. Well done all.

In the new year, and with the craziness of three COVID years behind us, I am pleased to have more time for allied health with the establishment of the People and Culture directorate allowing me to hand over some of my portfolios to them.

With this reclaimed time, I would like to connect with health practitioners and clinical assistants and ask that you support me spending a day a month with clinicians at each hospital. I will work with your allied health directors to organise some times. The visits are not reactive but proactive as I realise I need to better understand our HP and CA workforce and work environment and the pressures on you to represent you all better. To start the new year, I would like to prioritise visits to spend shifts with allied health in emergency departments. So I’m looking forward to seeing some of you on day and evening shifts. I am also open to requests to visit your work areas.

And finally,  if the “craziness” of the last few years has taken a toll on your wellbeing I would encourage you to talk about it to someone you trust or through the Metro North support services, such as peer responders, all found at the Staff Wellness Portal. And… if none of these options appeal to you, I can’t imagine an allied health director who wouldn’t want to chat with you. Myself included.

Christmas and seasons regards,
Mark
