Redcliffe RAP launch

Yesterday I spent the day at Redcliffe Hospital and attended the Reconciliation Action Plan launch. Well done to the Redcliffe RAP committee for developing the plan and organising yesterday’s launch event with Elders, community and staff.

We also held a staff forum with the Metro North Senior Executive Team where we updated staff on what’s happening across the organisation and answered questions. Thank you to everyone who came along in person or via Teams.

Message in a bottle

Metro North Health Message in a Bottle bannerBased on feedback from the BEMs and Food Services teams at The Prince Charles Hospital, I visited both services this week to speak to and listen to staff. Thank you to all for giving up your time and sharing your concerns. There will be some action in the BEMs space to close out some safety issues.

Thanks to Rosa for her frankness and wow to Sandra Benson who advised she walks 20,000 steps per day at work!

Congratulations also to TPCH cooks Peter and Rahul who won the national Institute of Hospitality in Health Care Conference culinary competition. The pair cooked a delicious
gourmet meal to take out the coveted award.

Celebrating our Operational Services staff

Throughout October we recognised the valuable contribution of Operational Services staff across our facilities.

Caboolture Hospital has wrapped up its 30th anniversary month with a profile of Patient Support Officer Norm Stevens. In 1973 Norm took up boxing when he was 15 and two years later won a state championship and silver medal in the national championships.

In 1979 Norm received both the Neville Bonner Trophy for Best Indigenous Boxer and the Arthur Tunstall Trophy for the Best Boxer at the Australian Championships. Norm represented Australia at the 1980 Olympic Games.

Since 2009, Norm has worked at Caboolture Hospital, mostly in Mental Health, and tries every day to make people happy and feel supported.

I’ve also received some photos of some of the celebrations throughout October.

Kind regards,
