The 2023 Have Your Say (HYS) survey results were circulated with you in August last year and since then, the People and Culture team have been working with Metro North leaders and staff from your facilities to develop an action plan in direct response to the feedback you gave us.

This week, we’re pleased to launch the Metro North Health Employee Engagement Action Plan 2023-25, which aims to shift the dial and significantly increase employee satisfaction over the next 12 months. But we need your help.

What we’ve done

Although this is the first Metro North-wide action plan in response to the HYS survey, there have been many local initiatives which came out of feedback from the previous two surveys that have been rolled out across the organisation.

What we plan to do

You Say We ListenedFour key focus areas have been identified in direct response to your feedback in the 2023 HYS survey results, which are also underpinned by MN32 and the Working Together Strategy for Inclusive Employee Engagement (2022-2024).

  1. Improved safety at work
  2. Improved support for staff
  3. Responsive leadership
  4. Staffing and workloads

There are 21 initiatives in the action plan that fall under the four focus areas (as well as other key factors that emerged from the survey results, such as wellbeing and development) with some already in the co-design phase or nearing completion. To mention just a few:

  • The Critical Incident Guide which addresses the need for a standardised approach when responding to critical incidents across Metro North.
  • Occupational Violence focus groups which aim to decrease the number of staff exposed to occupational violence.
  • Administration and operational learning and careers pathway guideline which focuses on career development opportunities for our admin and operational staff.

You can view the full list of initiatives on the Have Your Say Action Plan QHEPS page.

Be part of the change!

The HYS survey offers high level insights into areas of improvement. However, to ensure the initiatives within the focus areas effectively address staff concerns, an efficient co-design approach is crucial, requiring active participation from employees across Metro North. We can’t do this without you!

To kick off the Action Plan, we are calling for expressions of interest (EOI) from passionate Metro North employees to be part of an action group who co-design one of these important projects.

As a member of the Action Group, you will have the opportunity to provide your input and ideas on how we, as an organisation, can best develop and implement the initiative to effect real change for Metro North Health’s employees.

Get involved in one of the first few action groups commencing soon:

If you’d like to review the Metro North-wide results from the last three surveys or learn more about Have Your Say, you can find FAQs, a video and more information on QHEPS.

If you haven’t seen your team’s local results from the 2023 Have Your Say survey, please speak with your manager and ask them to share these.

Jackie.
