Dear colleagues,

A quick update on our management team. Cameron Abbott, our General Manager of Health Funding and Data Insights, is finishing up with Metro North today to take up an opportunity in the private sector. Michelle Marshman will act in the role for the next few weeks while the temporary EOI process is completed.

I want to thank Cam for his support for me personally, for the HDFI team and the broader organisation. Cam’s contribution has been integral to Metro North’s financial sustainability, funding optimisation and strengthening our data and analytics. He has also engendered a culture of inclusiveness, teamwork and transparency.

Our Corporate Symposium is on Wednesday 20 October. The bookings have been fantastic and will close today. You can find all the details online.

Privacy

Making better use of our information is critical for patient outcomes and cost savings. However, we need to do so in a way that respects privacy and confidentiality.

De-identification and anonymisation are an important mechanism for utilising our data in a way that minimises privacy and confidentiality risks. They support sharing or disseminating data in an ethical and legal way. De-identification and anonymisation can be technically complex and specialist advice may be required. The risk of re-identification must be managed to protect the identity of individuals and their personal information. For more information see the Queensland Health De-identification and anonymisation of data guideline and Definitions for identifiable, de-identified, non-identifiable, re-identified and anonymised data.

Regards

Mel
