Dear colleagues,
It was a pleasure to attend the Corporate Symposium this week and see so many people enjoying the day. The symposium provided an overview of some of Metro North’s bodies of work including an update from Kate Copeland, ED Assets and Infrastructure, on major development. We also heard updates from Strategic Projects and Green Metro North, and on Metro North’s wellbeing programs.
Metro North is committed to building an inclusive and diverse workforce that better reflects the community we serve. Creating an inclusive culture that promotes the skills and insights of our people, irrespective of gender, ethnicity, generation, sexual orientation, or disability, benefits our community, our patients, and our health service staff.
The government recently revised the Employment Opportunity (EEO) survey questions to include additional diversity data questions seeking to understand if employees identify as:
- an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- a culturally and linguistically diverse person
- a person with a disability
- a LGBTIQ+ person
- an Australian South Sea Islander.
I encourage you to go into MyHR and review your Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) information, and update if needed. This information is confidential, but helps us better understand who we are as Metro North Health and any ways we might make each of us feel more connected and supported at work.
Additional mandatory training has been introduced for Queensland Health employees. The training will be added to your TMS training list to complete by 1 February 2022.
This includes new a cyber security package, and revised occupational violence and domestic and family violence training. Code of Conduct and First-Response Evacuation instructions now need to be completed annually. Managers and executives will also need to complete Health and Safety training. Please keep an eye on TMS for when the training relevant to your role is added.
Regards,
Mel
