Dear colleagues,

Today the Board Chair announced that Jackie Hanson will be the Acting CE after I finish up next week which is excellent news for Metro North.

Dr David Rosengren will step into the role of Acting Chief Operating Officer from 24 July while recruitment for the new CE is underway. David is the Executive Director RBWH and has previously acted in the role.

I’d also like to congratulate Tami Photinos for being formally transferred into the role of Executive Director The Prince Charles Hospital, and Michele Gardner for being formally transferred into the role of Executive Director Clinical Governance, Safety, Quality and Risk. Both Tami and Michele have extensive experience and will continue to provide strong leadership.

As a health service, we have huge ambitions to ensure we are well prepared for increased demand as our population grows. You’ve probably all heard me talk about the fact that we will never be able to build new hospitals at the rate of our population growth, so we need to be strategic about how we get ahead of growth to have the workforce, clinical models, infrastructure and innovation we need.

This morning we held a strategic workshop with our Metro North, directorate, and clinical stream executive directors. The discussion included the current state of the HHS, how the institutes fit into our governance structure, how we as leaders keep MN32 moving forward, and most importantly how can we as leaders support staff through change and ensure we achieve our strategic goals.

I’m looking forward to our Movie at The Mill event this Sunday evening. The Mill is a new park in Petrie, located at 1 Moreton Parade, just off Gympie Road. The event will start at 3pm with food trucks, music and giant games. The movie will start as soon as it’s dark enough, around 5.30pm. Bring a rug or chair, and a blanket in case it’s a cool night. See you there!

Regards,

Shaun
