Dear colleagues,

We are continuing to see increased activity across our facilities, including high emergency department presentations. We are implementing strategies to create capacity to manage increased demand. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to providing high quality care in line with Metro North’s values.

This week we stood up a new vaccination clinic at Kippa-Ring. Thank you to everyone involved in our vaccination program and in rolling out new clinics for the community. Metro North has been significantly supporting the state’s response to COVID since the start of the pandemic and we continue to step up to support our community.

The Queen’s Birthday Honour were announced this week with some familiar names in the list. Congratulations to:

  • Kate Copeland AM – awarded Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to health infrastructure planning and management.
  • Dr Barry O’Loughlin AM – Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to medicine and to medical administration.
  • The Reverend Dr Cecilie Lander AM – Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to neurological medicine and to the Anglican Church of Australia
  • Dr Amanda Dines OAM – received the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to medicine.

Tomorrow is our annual Metro North Soccer Tournament. Come down from 2pm to Albion Indoor Sports Centre (43 Burdett St, Albion) to cheer on the teams and enjoy the barbecue. This is a family friendly event, so bring the kids. See you there!

Last week I went out to Doomben for the first day of the vaccination clinic and had the chance to meet some of our vaccination staff. I was very impressed with the professionalism and dedication of the team and what we can achieve at very short notice! Thank you!

Regards,

Shaun
