Dear colleagues,

It’s been a big week for events. TPCH has been celebrating its annual Charlie’s Week with events every day including a music quiz, treasure hunt, race around the helipad, and competitions in cake making, photography, filmmaking, art, and soccer. There was also a staff wellness day and recognition of length of service. This afternoon is the TPCH Staff Excellence Awards. It’s been a wonderful celebration of the TPCH staff community.

This week too we’ve hosted the annual Corporate Symposium which I was able to attend in the afternoon, and today is the Safety and Quality Forum. It’s been a positive week of staff development and networking activities.

The Stroke Foundation has announced Redcliffe Hospital as one of only four hospitals in Queensland (and only 13 in Australia) to receive their Excellence Award for quality, evidence-based stroke treatment and care.

TPCH Fractured Neck of Femur Service was recently awarded a top 10 hospital for hip fracture clinical care standards on the Australia New Zealand Hip Fracture Registry. This accolade is testament to the excellent care provided by staff in the service. For older patients a hip fracture can lead to significant challenges and the dedicated service at TPCH has made a huge difference to so many patients in the past decade.

RBWH Foundation’s Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital’s giving day last week raised more than $170,000, smashing the original fundraising target of $100,000. Congratulations to The Common Good on their successful giving day as well.

Thank you to everyone who has uploaded the evidence of your COVID vaccination so far. If you have not yet provided evidence of your vaccination, please take a few minutes to do it before the end of the month.

This weekend our community vaccination team will be standing up multiple pop up clinics at schools across Metro North. Please let your friends and family know that if they haven’t yet had a vaccination, there is plenty of opportunity this weekend.

This week’s message in a bottle reflects on one of the initiatives we’ve implemented since our last Have your Say staff survey: Thank you, Metro North, for introducing the talent management pipeline. It has been so positive for all employees who have been on contracts for years. It has increased our productivity.

Regards,

Jackie
