Dear colleagues,

There is much happening in our health service presently. Clearly COVID-19 is looming, and I continue to encourage you to encourage your family friends to get vaccinated. It is only through vaccination that we are going to come out the other side of this pandemic. Thank you to our wonderful nurses and midwives who are working in the COVID space, whether it is giving vaccination, working in the Emergency Operations Centres, fever clinics, hotel quarantine and of course inpatient care. I understand the challenges and I take my hat off to each and every one of you.

We are about to launch this year’s Nursing and Midwifery Dance Off. The conditions of entry are being sorted but could I suggest that you and your teams start to think about how to “put your best foot forward”. Last year the RBWH Diabetes Service won the People’s Choice Award and Community & Oral Health Services the Chief Nursing & Midwifery Officers Award. I presume they will once again put in an entry and they are going to be hard to knock off their respective perches! They were both outstanding….so…start practicing, think about who your best dancers are, and let’s see what you are made of! I can’t wait to see your entries. The prize is a beautiful disco ball trophy and either cakes or a pizza lunch for the winning teams. Prizes not to be sneezed at!

This Saturday the 6th of November from 10 am-4.30 pm the Queensland Branch of the Australian College of Neonatal Nursing are holding a workshop to be held at Caboolture Hospital in the Main Lecture Theatre. The program looks outstanding and features four outstanding speakers including some outstanding Metro North neonatal nurses.

I hope you have an outstanding weekend.

Alanna
