Dear colleagues,

I’d like to congratulate Kirsty Leo from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leadership Team who is the first First Nations registered nurse to complete the Healthcare Improvement Fellowship with Clinical Excellence Queensland.

Have Your Say survey

You might remember in 2019 we conducted the Have Your Say staff survey. Our aim is to conduct the survey every two years to gauge our progress.

The second staff engagement Have Your Say survey starts on Monday. All staff are encouraged to have your say in the anonymous survey from 17 May—7 June. We hope to learn how much our staff care about Metro North, your facility or directorate, and your individual work. The survey will ask for your opinions, which will help us understand what we can improve. By sharing your experiences, you’ll teach us about what we are doing well and what we can do better.

This survey also allows us to benchmark results against other hospital and health services around Australia. We can benchmark by specialty areas including intensive care units, emergency departments, operating theatres, maternity and newborn services, paediatrics, mental health, allied health, oral health, and diversity, demographics, and more.

At the end of the survey you’ll be invited to send a ‘Message in a Bottle’ to your Executive Director, me as Chief Operating Officer, or our Chief Executive Shaun Drummond. Last time as Acting CE I received over 3000 individual messages from staff. Whatever you write in this section will be personally read by the executive you choose. Remember, your responses will be completely confidential so you can be completely honest and say what you want.

The survey results will be analysed, and individual teams can expect feedback by the end of August. This is when we’ll also know what actions need to be made to continue to improve our workplace.

Please keep an eye out for a survey link in your work email on Monday. The link will also be available from 17 May on Metro North QHEPS, e-bulletins, MN Broadcast, and QR codes on posters and banners in staff areas.

Thank you in advance for your participation, honesty, and comments in the staff survey. Your feedback will enable us to continue developing a workplace that gives you just as much value as you put in.

Regards,

Jackie
