Metro North Health People & Culture (P&C) team is seeking expressions of interest from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and allies of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, to be a part of an Advisory Group to co-design and have a say in the development of workforce related actions under the Health Equity Strategy for 2023-2025. The Advisory Group will have Co-Chairs from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leadership Team and P&C team.

Your involvement is completely voluntary and you can withdraw at any time.

The Advisory Group will meet monthly for 2 hours for the remainder of 2023. The meeting frequency will be reviewed moving into 2024.

Role Role requirements and expectations
Advisory As an interested party, I want to be kept up to date and provide ad hoc advice and insight. I am available for 1-2 hours each month to contribute to the regular Advisory Group.
Co-designer  I want to actively participate in co-design workshops and be an integral part of the conversation, on an as-needs basis, attending specific project meetings and some ad-hoc meetings along with the regular advisory group meeting. I’m also happy to have regular consultation conversations with People & Culture members on specific Health Equity activities.

Who are we looking for?

  • Metro North Health staff who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and allies, who are passionate about improving the workplace experience.
  • Commit sufficient time to actively participate in the advisory group, including attending meetings.
  • Willingness to share your experiences and feedback so programs and activities can be developed to improve the Metro North Health working environment and help achieve health equity.

Some of the Health Equity actions that People & Culture are working on:

  • Develop and implement an anti-racism campaign and an anti-racism policy.
  • Develop and evaluate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peer Responder, Mentoring and Leadership programs.
  • Creation of a talent pool to focus on specific gaps for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Develop processes and systems so that Sorry Business or Sad News is understood and accommodated for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees.
  • Establish a professional line and/or stream for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers.
