You may have seen last week an announcement about paid discretionary special leave for employees requiring additional support after the referendum. Queensland Health has now provided details on how to apply for this special leave.

The leave allows for up to five days/shifts or part thereof for staff specifically experiencing social and emotional wellbeing challenges following the outcome of the Voice referendum. This leave requires both line manager and Chief Executive delegate approval. To apply for paid discretionary special leave:

  1. Apply through your leave tile on the myHR dashboard
  2. Leave Type: Discretionary Special Leave (located in the ‘Leave Type’ under ‘Special Leave’)
  3. Add the start/end Date: Dates of leave
  4. Comments must be entered to support application, and may include knowledge of an employee’s family connections. This information will only be seen by the manager and delegate.
  5. Select ‘Next’
  6. Attach any documents to support request
  7. Process flow to include:003. Manager – Line Manager004. Delegate – Chief Executive (mandatory)
  8. Select ‘Submit’

Should you require further support or assistance, please contact the Metro North People and Culture team at MNAskHR@health.qld.gov.au and MNmyHRSupport@health.qld.gov.au.
