Construction is a male dominated industry, but this week we had a demonstration of Metro North’s women in construction when Acting Chief Operating Officer Jane Hancock and I visited the Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment Project site. We were escorted by ED Caboolture, Kilcoy and Woodford Angie Dobbrick, and CHRP Project Director Fiona Brewin-Brown and Commissioning Manager Jodie Stevenson.

This week I was scheduled to host a vidcast with Dr Liz Rushbrook which was cancelled due to technical issues so I wasn’t able to provide updates on previous questions. One question was about feedback on the TPCH Safe Space. The advice from Metro North Mental Health is that this initiative is increasingly being used, and there is a lot of positive feedback.

There is a lot of interest in when teams can move back into Campbell Place (Citilink) after the flood damage. The initial advice was that repairs would take 6-8 weeks, but unfortunately work couldn’t commence until Energex approved the recommencement of the substation. This was achieved just before Easter, so we anticipate being able to move back in early June.

The Strategy and Planning team are continually working with teams across Metro North to update or develop new strategies and plans. We are currently finalising the 2022 update to the Metro North Strategic Plan, which includes the implementation of the Health Equity Strategy and the COVID recovery plan. The Metro North Operational Plan for 2022/23 is being prepared and there is a workshop with the Operational Leadership team in late May. This year we are also refreshing the MN32 strategy which requires periodic updates as new opportunities arise.

Last week the Minister for Health officially marked the construction of the Caboolture satellite hospital building, with representatives from Department of Health, Brisbane North PHN and Metro North in attendance. Queensland Health is building seven satellite hospitals of which three will be operated by Metro North.

Regards,

Kate
