This week we welcome a new addition to the portfolio, with the commencement of a new Director, so I thought it timely to provide an update on the portfolio and our leadership team.

There are four key groups within our portfolio:

  • Health Service Strategy and Planning
  • Sustainable Assets and Infrastructure
  • Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment Project
  • Strategic Developments

Dr Beth WilsonIt is my pleasure to confirm the appointment of Dr Beth Wilson as Director, Strategy and Planning. Beth joins us from previous roles with the Victorian Department of Health, where she was managed commissioning and system improvement, and statewide programs and policy, and Western Australia, where she undertook clinical service design and community consultation. I look forward to working with Beth as part of our Leadership Team, and invite you to join me in welcoming her to Metro North Health.

I would also like to thank Zarina Khan who has been acting in the Director role during the recruitment process.

David WalkerDavid Walker has been with Metro North in several different roles. Currently he is our lead for Sustainable Assets and Infrastructure. In addition to his experience in leading health capital projects, David is passionate about the environment and climate change.

David led the development of the Green Metro North Strategy, endorsed by the Board in February 2020, and the development of the Metro North Sustainable Design Guidelines, to inform planning and design of new health facilities.

Fiona Brewin-BrownFiona Brewin-Brown is Project Director, Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment Project.

Prior to joining Metro North, Fiona held senior roles in the Queensland Department of Health, and was previously the Project Director, Queensland Children’s Hospital.

Patience KawodzaPatience Kawodza was appointed to the role of Senior Director, Strategic Developments in April 2022. However she was no stranger to Metro North Health having previously worked with us on secondment from Queensland Treasury Corporation on projects including Transformation and Value Based Healthcare.

In addition to the non-capital projects, industry partnerships and commercial matters, Patience is also providing corporate governance support to our Institutes.
