Executive Director Research: Professor Dan Chambers

I am delighted to announce that once again, Metro North will be partnering with The University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology, Queensland Institute of Medical Research Berghofer and Griffith University to offer a fourth round of the Collaborative Research Grants Program in 2022. I am also very pleased to welcome the University of the Sunshine Coast as a Collaborating Organisation to this scheme.

The Collaborative Research Grants will enable new collaborative research between clinicians, academics, and scientists with the potential to lead to ongoing research of direct benefit to Metro North Health patients and the community. The key objectives of the Collaborative Research Grants are to:

  • enable new collaborative research between Metro North Health and Collaborating Institutions with the potential for ongoing collaborative research and funding opportunities
  • foster the professional career development of early career researchers, especially clinician researchers
  • support excellent basic and applied research collaborations between clinicians, scientists, and academics
  • enhance the translation of research outcomes into benefits for Metro North Health patients, the health service, and the community.

In partnership with Metro North, UQ, QUT and QIMRB will award up to three grants, Griffith will award up to two grants and USC will award up to one grant (i.e. a total of up to twelve grants will be awarded in this year’s round). The total funds available for each project will be up to $50,000.

This scheme opened yesterday, 24 March 2022 and will close on Sunday 22 May 2022. Further details of the Collaborative Research Grants can be obtained at Collaborative Research Grants – Metro North Health.

I would like to encourage our early career researchers within Metro North to apply for this scheme in the hope that it will lead to ongoing research collaborations and potential applications for nationally competitive funding.

Regards,

Dan
