Thank you for making me feel so welcome to the role of Metro North Executive Director Clinical Governance, Safety, Quality and Risk. This is my third week in the role. Over the coming weeks, I will be meeting with the facility executives, clinical directorates and clinical streams to gain a better understanding of the quality and safety challenges and opportunities for improvement facing each facility, clinical directorate, stream. Also, how can Metro North’s Clinical Governance, Safety, Quality and Risk team help embed the importance of safety and quality with a focus on highlighting and celebrating the great quality and safety initiatives across Metro North HHS and opportunities for improvements to assist the Health Service in being accreditation ready every day!
Congratulations to STARS on their success on achieving their ACHS interim accreditation 10 days after opening their fantastic facility. It was wonderful to work with the STARS Leadership, Safety and Quality team to assist them in achieving this milestone. I would also like to thank Louise O’Riordan and the Metro North Clinical Governance, Safety, Quality and Risk team for their valuable input and support throughout the accreditation process.
I am keen to understand how Metro North’s Clinical Governance Safety, Quality and Risk team can work with the health service to improve our patient outcomes and experience. How we treat our patients and each other is critical to achieving quality focused and safe care. When we work together, we ensure safety and quality is embedded right across the organsiation. Please share any feedback, ideas or areas for opportunity and improvement in regards to enhancing and embedding our quality and safety culture across Metro North via MN_ClinGovQandRisk@health.qld.gov.au. I look forward to hearing from you all.
Kind regards,
Michele Gardner
