Dear colleagues,

You might remember the issues identified by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) with Becton Dickinson (BD) Alaris™ Pumps (GP, VP, CC and SE) and Non-Dedicated Infusion sets and accessories. I’m happy to say that we are expecting to make the transition to new stock within the next month. Thank you for being patient as we work through this.

I’d like to share an update on the ongoing supply of surgical wrap. Due to a shortage of the raw material used to make the wrap, Queensland Health have been distributing supplies to hospitals and health services across the state. We are continuing to manage our stock levels of surgical wrap to ensure quality and safety for our patients.

I want to give a special thank you to Clinical Skills Development Service (CSDS) for their rapid response to supplement the fit testing program, who have been working seven days a week to support staff safety. It’s a fantastic display of commitment to Metro North’s values and they’ve been incredibly helpful during this time.

To achieve a sustainable model and to support the Metro North CSDS Fit Testing Program, we are in the process of recruiting additional resources. An EOI via the MN Portal has been launched for Clinical Nurse Clinical Facilitator – Fit Testing Program (NG6.1)

I also wanted to congratulate them on their award at the Bond University 2021 Sustainable Healthcare Awards. CSDS and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital received the Educational and Health Literacy Award which was awarded to the Maternity Education Program. Well done and thank you for always going above and beyond!
