Message from the Executive Director Clinical Governance, Safety, Quality and Risk: Michele Gardner

Dear colleagues,

Thank you to everyone who attended the 2021 Safety and Quality Forum on Friday 22 October.

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend due to being ‘fogged in’ at Norfolk Island. I would like to extend my gratitude to Alanna Geary for stepping up and opening the forum at short notice. I’d also like to thank the Metro North Clinical Governance, Safety, Quality and Risk Unit; Clinical Skills Development Service and the Metro North Communication and Events team for all their hard work and making the day a great success.

A total of 260 delegates attended the forum which was made up of over 200 delegates from across Metro North Health, 24 delegates from other Hospital and Health Services as well as 18 consumers.

The Safety and Quality Awards saw over 28 submissions with the theme ‘Stepping up for quality and safety at Metro North’ under the pillars of improve outcomes of care; prevent harm and increase reliability of care; communicate better; strengthen our patient safety and quality improvement culture.
