Metro North Health and the University of Queensland School of Pharmacy have partnered to appoint a Professor of Safe and Effective Medication Research. This position will work with a range of key stakeholder within and beyond UQ and Metro North to plan and establish a centre of national significance aligned with the identified National Health Priority for quality and safe use of medicines and National Safety and Quality Health Standard 4 – Medication Safety.
I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Chris Freeman to the conjoint position. I look forward to introducing you to Chris over the coming months.
Metro North Health held a Falls from Harm Awareness Day on Wednesday 27 October which was a resounding success. The facility winners for the Falls Board competition were a showcase of what we can achieve together and are a credit to the ongoing work in your clinical areas to prevent Falls with Harm.
Many of you visited the dedicated Metro North Clinical Governance, Safety, Quality and Risk QHEPS page to download the resources to reinvigorate your Falls Boards and provide feedback about completion of the Risk Assessment form, make suggestions for improvements to processes and to give your thoughts about the frequency of training/education. 9BS at RBWH returned the most responses to the survey and were the winners.
The photos below showcase the various Falls boards across Metro North facilities:
My sincere thanks to you all for your support of this important initiative which will form the foundation for standardising processes and strategies for the prevention of Falls and Falls with Harm across Metro North Health, and taking care of our patients whilst in the care of Metro North.
Kind regards
Michele
