Accreditation Readiness Update

A reminder that it is only 99 days until July 1, the date that Metro North is moving to the new short notice accreditation assessment model.

Metro North Health will be assessed and accredited as a single hospital and health service, rather than each individual facility. For example, if a ‘not met’ or a ‘met with a recommendation’ is received against components of the eight National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, this will apply to all of Metro North Health, not just an individual hospital or directorate. In addition, during this accreditation assessment a large proportion of time will be spent in clinical areas talking to staff and patients.

In addition, on Thursday 30 March from 10.30am -11.30am you can join our vidcast to hear about Metro North’s preparation for short notice accreditation with Chief Executive Jackie Hanson and myself. There will be an opportunity to ask questions you might have on short notice accreditation assessment. Join the vidcast.

Workforce immunisation

As part of NSQHS Standard 3: Preventing and Controlling Health-Care Associated Infection it is important that our workforce are up to date with their immunisations. If you are not sure about your mandatory immunisations, you can easily check it through TMS. Having our immunisations up to date is a great example of how quality and safety is everyone’s business!

April No Falls

April No Falls is an international campaign to educate and raise awareness of falls prevention and help those at risk of falling to stay on their feet. Being hospitalised and being immobile can increase a person’s risk of falls.

There are a range of hospital related resources including:

The April No Falls campaign also includes e-learning for health professionals including a new Preventing Fall Prevention e-learning course.

For more information and other resources (posters, screensavers, web banners, videos and more) see the April No Falls website.

The Clinical Skills Development Service (CSDS) Administration Team

Clinical Skills Development Service (CSDS) Administration Team I am excited to highlight different teams across Metro North and all the wonderful work they do. This fortnight we are profiling the Clinical Skills Development Service Administration Team. The team has two administration functions: Education and Training and Centre Support. The Education and Training team is responsible for scheduling and organising the administrative components of CSDS courses, including course development, implementation, and evaluation. They work closely with the in-house simulation team and Metro North Health and Queensland Health clinical faculty to ensure high-quality course delivery. The team also provides pre-course materials, manages payments, and collates post-course evaluations to enhance the overall course experience for attendees.

The CSDS Centre Support team is the organisation’s backbone and oversees venue hire, faculty travel arrangements, human resources, financial support, and contract management. They act as champions of customer service and maintain the centre’s presentation. As the first and last point of interaction for visitors to CSDS, the administration team plays a vital role in supporting Queensland Health clinicians’ training and education needs. Without their effective support, the success of CSDS’s training and education programs would not be possible.

Kind regards,

Michele.
