Welcome back to everyone who has been on leave. Hope you are relaxed & ready to join our COVID response. Lots has changed in the last fortnight, we need to protect each other, in order to be at work to care for our patients.
There is information everywhere, much of it appears conflicting. This is common when the situation is changing rapidly. Can I suggest the latest sources of truth are the CKW COVID daily update (this one, usually sent out 1300-1400h), the MN COVID daily update (usually late afternoon) & the MN intranet COVID webspace. Things are changing every day, so please keep up with the daily updates.
Main news for today is:
- Many non-clinical staff with clinical skills, will be redeployed to clinical or COVID response areas; ask your Line Manager or Service Line lead where to go. Managers: if you have staff who are not absolutely essential for this shift, can you please let EOC Workforce know, by calling 5172.
- Protecting our staff is essential if we are to care for our community. The best protection is wearing N95 masks over nose/mouth + eyewear. The next best thing you can do to protect each other, is to eat outdoors (yes, I know it’s windy).
- As our workforce is impacted by COVID, we need to focus on acute care, on doing the things that make the biggest difference. Where healthcare can safely be delayed, we will likely need to start delaying it over the coming days.
- If you want the numbers, to understand specific COVID gear changes, to hear the details … please read the IMT summary, which is below the signature block.
Stay calm, slow COVID & help our holiday rested colleagues to get into the right COVID gears
