Only Wednesday and we have already changed COVID gears several times this week. The fresh news is:
- More people getting COVID, more patients, more staff, more everyone.
- Maintaining rosters is an increasing challenge, so staff redeployment is underway, elective services are being scaled down (including virtual), say hi to agency staff who are helping us out, some staff may be recalled from leave next week, only essential education is occurring, we are agile and will meet the challenge!
- Know that we are doing everything possible to reduce the amount of overtime being done. This is a long race, caring for each other sustainable is a key part of our plan. If your team is really feeling the pressure > please escalate quickly via your managers & EOC.
- We are setting up a staff testing service for CKW staff, located in the staff carpark. The plan is: today go to OPD, tomorrow OPD or carpark, Friday to the carpark.
- We will start distributing home rapid antigen test kits to some MN staff, once the supply line is working well; selective use, not for everyone, at some stage in the next week.
- National Cabinet are meeting today, expect some more gear changes following this.
- Unsure about what leave you take when you are off work due to COVID? Go to the MN intranet COVID leave document.
Stay calm, slow COVID & please take practical steps to show appreciation to team members who are doing overtime,
Simon
