It’s a familiar story. The Caboolture region has received a large amount of rain today with flooding in some low-lying areas.

At this stage, our colleagues at Woodford Corrections Health are cut-off with both access points now impassable due to floodwaters.

The D’Aguilar Highway is also cut by floodwaters at Kilcoy Creek Bridge. However, we’ve been able to move some Kilcoy Hospital patients and staff for now via Walsh’s Crossing (behind the abattoir).

Caboolture Hospital and the Riverside office are operating as normal with some minor leakage issues that the BEMS team is looking after.

Most major main roads in the Caboolture area remain open but this may change on the incoming high tide, which is expected just after 6pm.

Please focus on discharging patients who are ready to go home and can safely do so. Assist patients to communicate with visitors remotely, rather than a physical visit, wherever possible.

The weather forecast includes more rain in coming days so please consider your safety as well.

Take extra care on the roads and if it’s flooded, forget it. During periods of heavy rain, please consider remaining in a safe place until the severe weather has passed.

Caboolture Hospital staff who can’t return home after their shift can stay temporarily in the Transit Lounge. Spare scrubs are available in the Education Centre (near the coffee machine).

Hospital Coordinators office will have toiletries and meals available.

It’s important to come to work to support colleagues and provide care to patients. We’ve got this!

Finally, the evening shift sushi food truck at Caboolture Hospital from 4.30pm tonight has unfortunately been postponed.
