Message from the Acting Executive Director

A very big thank you to everyone for being so welcoming and helpful during my week as Acting Executive Director. We really do have a great team at CKW!

Kitchen Refurbishment Project

Caboolture Hospital reached another exciting stage in the kitchen refurbishment project this week.

On Wednesday, we successfully moved the plating space to the Wellness Centre. The changeover went well with no interruption to meal delivery and collection times for patients in the wards.

This temporary arrangement will be in place until December 2022 while a new plating line is constructed in the kitchen.

Here’s a great photo of the food services team just before the space was emptied and temporarily moved to the Wellness Centre.

You can continue to use the Wellness Centre but please give priority access to Food Services staff during peak plating times. The Allied Health playground area, the main courtyard and the chapel courtyard are all great places for meal breaks.

Thank you for your patience during the construction of the Kitchen Refurbishment Project.

Metro North Staff Symposium

This year’s Metro North Staff Symposium will be held on Wednesday 5 October at the RBWH Education Centre.

It will be an opportunity for staff in non-clinical/corporate roles to come together to network with colleagues and explore issues such as the impact of hybrid work on culture and practical strategies for building cultures of success.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to get to know Chief People and Culture Officer Kristal Lowe and Chief Finance Officer Alister Whitta.

The virtual keynote presentation will be delivered by Aaron McEwan. Aaron will explore how organisations are leveraging hybrid work to drive cultural connectedness in today’s new work environment.  Aaron is a behavioural scientist, psychologist and futurist and was recently named a Top 100 Global HR Influencer and one of five HR Leaders to Follow in 2022.

Register for the symposium here.

Welcome Scott and Jan!

A warm welcome to Scott Trudgett as Acting Manager Learning and Development. This role is shared between Redcliffe and Caboolture hospitals. Also, welcome back to Jan Burnett, who’s returned as Finance Manager while Brett Parnell is on leave. Thanks, Jan.

What a compliment!

Here’s a great compliment we received for the Caboolture Hospital Ward 3A team recently:

“Every doctor, nurse, wardsman, therapist, meal supplier, cleaner, MRI technician, ambulance officer and any other staff I have left out of this list, treated me with absolute respect and compassion.

“Short staffed they may have been but every one of them went that extra mile for me.

“Some of the other patients in my ward were in need of much more care than I was… and I was indeed humbled by the patience and good grace with which the staff tended to their needs.

“I bet you money that if you travelled the world over, you would not find a better class of people anywhere.”

Finally,

A very big thank you to everyone who worked during yesterday’s National Day of Mourning. We have another long weekend coming up next weekend – ironically for the Queen’s Birthday!

Wherever possible, I really encourage everyone to take a break and re-energise the batteries ahead of a what is sure to be a busy period ahead towards the end of the year.Kind Regards,

Fiona.
