Adj. Prof. Alanna Geary, Acting Executive Director

I started yesterday as Acting Executive Director of Caboolture Hospital, Kilcoy Hospital and Woodford Corrections Health while recruitment for a new Executive Director is underway.

I have always enjoyed coming to Caboolture Hospital, so it’s great to get to know you better and be more involved. I’m doing my best to get around the directorate and touch base with staff to learn more about the great work you’re doing.

As many of you know, I am a nurse and midwife by background and normally hold the role of Metro North’s Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer. I am always proud of what I do and what the 9500 nurses and midwives across Metro North do whom I work alongside and provide professional oversight for.

I am so grateful for the other health professionals that I work with and acknowledge the unique perspective that each and every discipline brings to the table.  I very much believe in team work and acknowledging the unique contribution that each and every one of us brings to the table.

We have a lot to get done together. The Caboolture Satellite Hospital opens next month. The multi-storey car park and the new clinical building at Caboolture Hospital are also nearing completion and will come online over the next few months.

I feel very fortunate to be offered the opportunity to work alongside you for the next few months while we open these exciting new facilities.

People have asked me why come to CKW to be acting Executive Director when I already hold a senior role in Metro North. The answer is fairly simple. Sometimes walking in someone else’s shoes gives you a very different perspective and actually assists you to do your role better.

While my role of Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer brings me to CKW regularly, I have never actually worked here. Therefore, this is a wonderful opportunity to understand the machinations of this amazing facility and get to know you all a bit better.

If you see me around, please stop and stay hello.

Your hard work and dedication to the Metro North values continues to improve the health of the Caboolture and Kilcoy communities. Thank you.

Kind regards,

Alanna.
