Adj. Prof. Alanna Geary, Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer

Adj. Prof. Alanna Geary, Acting Executive Director

We have been working hard towards building a bigger and better hospital for the Caboolture community, with lots of exciting work happening behind the scenes to get the buildings ready for occupancy.

Target occupancy was set to commence on 21 August 2023. However, the builder has notified us that their works have been delayed. The extent of the delay and its implication for Caboolture Hospital and Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment Project activities is currently being reviewed.

The next steps are for the project to review the implications of the delay and assess what impact it will have to the target occupancy period and opening sequence. The key consideration is ensuring the safety and wellbeing of patients and staff, while enabling the building works to be completed as quickly as possible.

Staff that were rostered off next week to attend training will continue to be rostered off. The project will run familiarisation tours for these staff with a focus on the environment and flow. If you have any questions about training, please contact CHRP_Commissioning@health.qld.gov.au.

The project team is working as quickly as it can to determine what this delay means for CKW and will provide another update as soon as possible.  We will absolutely let you know as soon as we have official word that occupancy can commence.

Metro North Health Listening Post general advertisementListening Post with Jackie and Jane

The Listening Post is a great opportunity to chat directly with Metro North Chief Executive Jackie Hanson and Chief Operating Officer Jane Hancock.

Jane and Jackie will be in the Caboolture Hospital Central Courtyard on Wednesday 23 August from 12.30pm – 1.30pm. Please go along if you would like to have a chat.

I know that Jackie and Jane both get a great deal from hearing directly from staff and this is your opportunity to meet them, put forward suggestions both from a local level and a Metro North Health perspective.

Jackie and Jane are both very committed to our people and that includes not only the patients and families who attend our services but also the staff that provide the care.

I’m also starting regular ‘Ask Alanna’ sessions soon. Watch this space!  Will let you know as soon as we have them up and running, but I too would love to hear from you and talk directly with you.

Caboolture Hospital staff parking applications 30 August 2023 advertisment Caboolture Satellite Hospital Accreditation

Yesterday (Thursday 17 August) we had the interim accreditation process for the Caboolture Satellite Hospital. Two surveyors attended and many of us had the opportunity to meet with them.

Congratulations to all who were involved. While we certainly do not have the final report and we will have to wait for the final tick of approval, the two surveyors who attended were extremely positive and acknowledged the significant journey. Thank you so very much to each and every person who has been involved in getting us to this point.

There are so many people and if I try and name individuals, I will surely miss someone (I do not want to do that) but a wonderful achievement and great teamwork. We now await the final report.

Salary sacrificing session/CKW All Staff Forum

Are you considering salary sacrificing for your paid parking application?

The CKW All Staff Forum on Wednesday 30 August will be a special event featuring Smartsalary and Remserv representatives.

We’ve invited them along to discuss salary sacrificing options for staff ahead of paid parking starting soon at Caboolture Hospital.

This special All Staff Forum will be held from 10.30am to 11am on Microsoft Teams.  This will be to discuss the car park.

The next forum will be a combination of Teams and in person in the lecture theatre (13 September 2023).

While I am at CKW, I would like to meet and talk to as many of you as possible. I try and get out and about regularly but when the facility is running 24/7, many of you are here when I am not.

If you would like to “Ask Alanna” please feel free! Very happy to give answers where I can and where I can’t do my utmost to get you an appropriate response.

What a compliment!

Here’s a strong commendation for the Caboolture Hospital maternity team. It makes me so proud:

“From start to finish my husband and I were treated in the best way possible. We are so happy with everything.

“From the midwife and student midwife in the antenatal clinic, the nurses and doctors in the theatre and all the lovely midwives who took care of us after birth.

“Every single person was amazing and extremely kind and helpful. We felt very safe and reassured going into surgery, with every single per checking in on how I felt constantly.

“We think everyone at Caboolture Hospital were superstars and are so pleased how our experience went with our first child.”

Finally,

A heads-up that repairs will be carried out on one of our generators. It’s one of the two located behind the Caboolture Hospital Services Block, near the main dock.

The works will occur on Wednesday (23 August) from 12pm to 12.45pm, which is the quietest time for the dock.

Any urgent deliveries arriving during that 45-minutes window will use the kitchen supply dock instead.

Stay safe,

Alanna.
