As CKW continues to grow and evolve, it’s important to define what we want our culture to look like.

That’s why I’m excited to share that we recently started the Caring Together: Living our Values Project. The project will enable all voices across CKW to define the behaviours and mindsets that make our culture great.

Building on what’s already special about our culture and defining the values-aligned behaviours that are unique to CKW will enable us to be future-fit for our communities and ensure CKW is a great place to work for every staff member now and in the future.

What we’ve done so far

Earlier this month, leaders from across CKW gathered to define how we best live our values of respect, teamwork, compassion, high-performance and integrity.

A key output of this workshop was the draft CKW Living our Values Charter — a one-page document that articulates the strengths of our current culture and defines draft key behaviours that will drive the culture we need to care for each other and our patients.

How you can be involved

Following the CKW leadership engagement workshop, myself and the CKW leadership are keen to continue building out our culture and rejuvenating what Caring Together means for us, our patients and our communities into the future.

There are several ways that you can get involved in the Caring Together: Living our Values Project.

The development of our CKW Living our Values Charter takes an iterative approach, meaning with each consultation the draft values charter will be refined with the feedback in real-time. This ensures that at whatever point you provide your feedback, you can be assured that the version you are reviewing has already incorporated feedback from those who have contributed before you. I highly encourage everyone to get involved in at least one of these activities and spread the word to colleagues to also get involved.

Staff consultation sessions

In-person consultation sessions where you can contribute to refining the draft CKW Living our Values Charter. You are welcome to join as many as you’d like. More about these next week.

Other opportunities to be involved

  • All-staff survey: A survey will be shared seeking feedback on the next iteration of the draft CKW Living our Values Charter. This will be a great opportunity to continue to provide input, especially for those who were not able to attend one of the in-person consultation sessions.
  • Pop-up feedback stations: Copies of the latest draft CKW Living our Values Charter will be available at various locations as another avenue to contribute feedback. These ‘pop-up’ stations will be available in early November and will be a great alternative option for providing feedback if you’re not able to join one of the in-person sessions.

I understand it is a busy time so there will be multiple options to share your insights. I really want to hear from everyone so please take up the opportunity to contribute and encourage your colleagues to do the same!

Thank you again for your passion and commitment in engaging in these ongoing conversations and activities as we continue to build our CKW culture and care for our community together.

MET response update – Caboolture Hospital car parks

There has been significant discussion regarding emergency responses in the new Caboolture Hospital multi-storey car park.

After much consideration and consultation with various stakeholders, emergency responses to all car parks located on the Caboolture Hospital campus will be managed by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS).

While we would always respond with assistance, as required, there should be minimal requirement for our teams to respond. Should you require further information, contact CKW Medical Services via dms-ckw@health.qld.gov.au.

Thank you for your continued care in responding to the needs of our patients.

Celebrating Operational Services Month

Kilcoy Hospital Operational Services staff at appreciation lunch The team at Kilcoy Hospital recently held an appreciation lunch for the operational staff, to say thank you for a job well done every day.

At Caboolture Hospital, the Facilities team is distributing thank you cards to pen a personal message. They are being distributed across the Caboolture Hospital wards or find the display at the 30th birthday party event on 25 October.

We’ll collate all the cards and put them on display on the wall near the Operational Staff offices.

Our operational teams do such a great job every day! Can I say that since I have been at CKW, I can honestly say that they are a most friendly bunch! They are always helpful, always happy to say hello and really make the lives of our patients and their colleagues great. Thank you for all you do!

Farewell Annie!

Group of staff around Ann Whalley at her farewell morning teaFarewell and safe travels to Ann Whalley.

Ann is retiring after 18 years with Metro North Health.

A lovely celebration was held this week to wish her well.

You can read more about Ann’s journey in the Caboolture Hospital 30th birthday stories.

They are all available on the Extranet.

Finally,

Alanna Geary with her two sonsSpeaking of celebrating Caboolture Hospital 30th birthday, don’t miss our final event on Wednesday (25 October). Come along with your team to enjoy food and fun!

We’ll send out more details early next week.

I must admit it has been so wonderful to be here during such significant events including the birthday celebrations!

I feel very chuffed to be a part of the team during this exciting time. As I said recently, my twin boys turn 30 tomorrow (21 October), so Caboolture and they share a significant milestone.

I have popped a photo of my very unidentical twins! I would also like to thank everyone who took the time early this week to ask after my wellbeing.

It has been a little tough but since mid-week it has gotten progressively better, and I am looking forward to a great weekend of celebration.

Thank you all for being you!

Stay safe,

Alanna.
