It was great to hear about the appointment of Jackie Hanson to the Metro North Health Chief Executive position.

Jackie has always been a firm supporter of the important work we do across Community and Oral Health to assist our hospitals, to reduce hospital stays and re-admission, to provide high level oral health and community care, as well as our staff’s commitment to the COVID-19 response.

Peer Responder EOI now open

I am delighted to have the opportunity to open the Expression of Interest (EOI) process from interested applicants who want to become a COH Peer Responder.

Please think about whether you fit the qualities and attributes of a Peer Responder and/or whether you know someone that would make a great Peer Responder by virtue that they are already doing the role of demonstrating genuine care and concern for their colleagues.

Expressions of interest close 23 March 2022.

Please note. there will also be a number of information sessions (via teams) over the coming weeks. Details of these sessions will be communicated in the eBulletin and upcoming Special Broadcasts.

Compliment – Interim Care

While it has been difficult for staff, residents and families across our bedded and home visiting services, it is good to see some great compliments coming through about the care we provide.

“I want to thank you profusely for getting me into Interim Care. The staff are excellent and I am treated like a princess. I go out most days scootering around the peninsula so I am definitely getting a tan! 

“The patients are safe and not in lock down as the ‘powers that be’ are very strict in keeping everyone safe. I am living in paradise!! 

“I can walk over 200 meters now and play pool standing for hours at a time.  I have made my room my own with all the creature comforts and am so lucky most of the residents are very friendly. 

“Sarah and Paul are my saving grace to getting back my life. No health issues at all.  AMAZING!! I can’t thank you enough for getting me where I am.”

COH farewells Shan KiesFond farewell to Shan

I want to say thank you and farewell to one of Executive Support Officers Shan Kies who will exploring what country living has to offer and will be moving on from Community and Oral Health after many years.

In her own words the number one thing she will miss will be the culture of support that exists in our directorate:

“The way community staff continually support their patients … everyone works to not only care for their patients but also to support them.”
