It is great to be back after a wonderful wedding celebration with my family. I want to thank Michelle Kane for her work looking after the directorate while I was away.

This week is National Volunteers Week (NVW) and a very important week to say thank you to our volunteers who always do an important job supporting our services, residents and patients.

Our volunteers bring people together and create a better place for everyone.

Unfortunately, our volunteers haven’t been onsite for a while due to COVID-19 but I am expecting them to return the week beginning the 30 May 2022.

Please join me in welcoming them back across many of our COH facilities and services.

Flu update

I am so grateful to hear that around 1,200 Community and Oral Health staff have gotten the flu shot so far this year, given the very difficult flu season expected this year.

I encourage you all to continue to keep each other and your families safe this flu season.

This week we will now reach the scheduled four weeks of vaccinations at COH and I want to thank everyone from Infection Control who have been doing such an amazing job delivering the vaccination effort.

Next week there will be a clinic running Wednesday 25 May at Brighton Health Campus (BHC) and additional pop-ups as required.

Please contact COH Infection Control CNC  – Mob: 0407 029 162 and keep an eye out for emails from your local facilities.

Interpreter services

In 2021, COH conducted a survey with staff to understand current awareness and use of interpreter services.

Across COH, a whopping 104 staff provided feedback which has allowed COH Engagement and MN Interpreter Services to identify opportunities for improvement.

Staff from  professional, administration and operational streams replied to the survey from most services in COH. Quantitative and qualitative questions were asked resulting in a rich data set that has provided very clear areas for improvement.

The outcomes from the survey are being used to develop strategies that will enhance the experience of staff and consumers using interpreters to support patient care.

So, watch this space! And thank YOU, for contributing to improved services for our consumers.

New round of Community and Oral Health poloshirts

There has been a lot of interest around when the next ordering round for our Community and Oral Health staff shirts will occur.

This will open in the coming weeks leading into the end of the financial year and tax time.

This year there will be two shirts available.

The first will be the existing poloshirt that features the Better Together artwork and here is a sneak peak at our stylish-new corporate shirt.
