The past month has seen some great activities and achievements across our directorate as we focus more on business-as-usual activity.

In this edition of the Community and Oral Health (COH) Express, we take a look at social prescribing and how important it is to involve patients and residents in a range of non-clinical and recreational services and activities to help improve wellness.

The work being done at the Brighton Wellness Hub is a good example of how social prescribing can improve wellness through better inclusion, especially as evidenced in Murial’s story.

These results can also be seen in the work of our recreational officers and volunteers across our services, as well as the great partnership we have established with the Sandgate and District’s Men’s Shed.

Another great story covered is the Community Based Rehabilitation Team and their efforts to help Tracy Nowicki recover from a life-threatening road accident – her recovery is remarkable.

In addition, COH is continuing to improve access to care, increase care closer to home and support patient flow across Metro North.

The list of great staff achievements continues to grow.

Finally, we profile the Moora View Healing Garden Opening and the meaning behind this important addition to our services.

Please keep looking after one another. I hope you enjoy this edition of the COH Express.
