The festive season is in full swing and it is great to see so many of our staff and services taking the time to unwind and celebrate together.
Santa has made appearances at the Oral Health Centre and 19th Avenue at Brighton. A big thank you for bringing Christmas joy.
It’s been another significant year for the Metro North Oral Health Service team.
Besides training the next generation of oral health carers our health hygiene colleagues continue to deliver great care to adults, children and adolescents with special needs across Metro North.
Each year our Oral Health Centre, in particular deliver around 60,0000 oral health care appointments with the help of University of Queensland students and Metro North Health staff.
The Season for Kindness
Each year, and with no surprise, we also see a lot of kindness shown by our staff in terms of providing support and donations to people in our community that are less fortunate or doing it tough.
I know that many Community and Oral Health services, facilities and staff have been getting involved in these types of Christmas Drives without any expectation of thanks.
They do it because they care!
The MNOHS staff recently answered the call to support a charity drive for the Salvos and Vinnies. As you can see from the photo there were a wonderful assortment of food items.
The contacts at Vinnies and the Salvos were blown away by our staff’s generosity!!
Thanks to all Community and Oral Health staff for making the festive season a little better for everyone.
Visit to Services
I am never prouder than when I am advocating on behalf of the COH teams and the work you do. So that I can be an even better advocate, I have been joining staff at handover.
I have had the pleasure of visiting a number of services this week and have more visits scheduled for next week.
What brings me great joy is when I observe true interdisciplinary (medical, nursing and allied health) collaboration and values in action; when people are willing to help each other out; and when staff feel comfortable to speak up and listen to others in equal measure.
I am also delighted to hear the consideration that is given to the families and individual circumstances of each person we serve and on one occasion that even included a wedding!
This level of collaboration makes it a more satisfying place to work and we can feel assured that the people we serve are receiving quality care despite the workloads and complexities.
Joining handover is immensely rewarding for me as it reminds me of my “why” – that I am here to support you to provide the best possible quality service.
Thank you for having me at your place.
