Glynis Schultz, Executive Director, Community and Oral Health

It is great to be back after a short and refreshing break spent with my family. Thank you to Mario de Silva for covering the Executive Director position while I was away.

I wish those who celebrate the holiday a very Happy Easter. I am grateful to staff who will be working over this time to serve the people in our care.

I hope that each of you finds time to do the things that you enjoy and take the opportunity to relax and recharge.

Easter is a time for connection between families and I seek your support in ensuring we can facilitate and support that connection to keep our consumers and visitors safe as we continue to respond to COVID.

This may mean using alternative spaces or outdoor areas so the 1.5 m distance can be maintained. Where this is not possible, please speak with the visitor and support them to wear appropriate PPE.

If you have any questions, please speak with Infection Control or the manager of the bedded service.

Short Notice Assessment

Metro North is fast approaching the commencement of mandatory short notice assessments from 1 July 2023, where we have the opportunity to demonstrate that we provide kind, safe and inclusive care every day.

Following are a number of resources to assist with staff knowledge and to help prepare teams for assessment, including the updated Accreditation Intranet Page:

Our Safety and Quality Team have also updated the NSQHS Standards factsheets, which are available on our Safety and Quality Intranet site – Accreditation / Safety and Quality / Community and Oral Health

Please reach out to the safety and quality team if you have any questions or require additional support.

Mandatory training progress

Thank you to staff who have been prioritising their mandatory training, I know that it can be difficult to find the time.

For those that haven’t completed their mandatories, please continue to focus on all your mandatories especially fire safety, fit testing, domestic and family violence, and your PDPs. Speak to your line manager if you need assistance.

New Justice of the Peace service

A new Justice of the Peace service is being piloted at Brighton Health Campus for patients, residents, families and the community through the Brighton Wellness Hub.

This service has been established to improve and support the patient experience, but also compliments the work, social networks and support provided by the Hub in the community.

It is anticipated that the service may grow to include other bedded services.

Further detail about this bedded and community-based service will be provided in the next Staff Bulletin.

Staff movements

Dane Robinson will be backfilling the Director of Clinical Operations position from the 6 April to the 11 June while we recruit.

While Mario has already acknowledged Kerri Gane for her work in the role over the past year, I would also like to thank Kerri and wish her every success in her new role.

Glynis.
