As we head into the weekend, RBWH has moved to a Code Brown Alert for the predicted weather event.

We need to remain vigilant as the weather may be unpredictable. All looks to be calm at present however yesterday showed us that this can change quickly.

We have worked with each of the 5 Service Lines to reduce non-essential activity with a plan is to resume normal scheduled activity for Monday. Please encourage the uptake of virtual care wherever possible.

Staff who may be working from home this week are to return to their usual worksite on Monday.

Please note that the relaxation of the mask mandate from tonight does not alter the PPE status at RBWH.

Please ensure you stay safe while driving to and from work. The hospital roads and carparks will continue to be under capacity pressure due to so many wishing to take up the opportunity to park safely. RNA, Cornerstone and Bramston Street Carpark are also available. I am hopeful that my traffic controlling skills are no longer required!

This week hasn’t been easy as we navigate the implications of the flood situation in Queensland. Many of our staff have also been affected in their personal lives.
Despite all of this, I am really proud to see Team Royal rallying together to support each other, our patients and their families.

Your efforts are not lost on me so thank you.

Gill
