This year’s staff flu vaccination campaign is off to a flying start. On the first day of this year’s campaign, around a quarter of Redcliffe Hospital staff rolled up their sleeves to be vaccinated against the flu.
Cathy Fritz and our Infection Prevention team kicked off this year’s staff flu vaccination campaign on Wednesday with a one-day vaccination blitz in MBICC. I was one of the 498 hospital staff who took the positive step to protect ourselves, our families, and our patients against the flu this winter.
Cathy tells me that it was the great support from the pharmacy team, admin, patient support services, facility services, and the nursing support unit that made the clinic such a success.
The pharmacy team is providing flu vaccination clinics each weekday from this week on. You’ll need to make an appointment for these clinics online. Infection Prevention will be running mobile and pop-up clinics in clinical areas as well.
Being vaccinated for the flu is one of the quickest and most effective things you can do to help the hospital prepare for the winter season.
COVID-19 debrief
Thank you to everyone who has already taken a few minutes to complete the COVID-19 staff debrief survey. The survey is still open, and it’s a good way to share your perspective on what we’ve learned over the past two years.
Alongside the survey, you can also share your feedback during professional group debrief sessions over the next couple of weeks.
- Allied Health staff can join their Teams session on Tuesday, 3 May, at Noon.
- Facility Services, Administration, Patient Support Services, BEMS, and Food Services will have their Teams session on Tuesday, 3 May at 2.30pm.
- Nurses and midwives can have their say on Monday, 9 May at 2pm.
- Medical officers will have their session on Teams on Tuesday, 10 May, from 7:30am.
Mandatory May
As we move into our new COVID-normal, it’s time to return our focus to other important things, like our mandatory and requisite training in TMS. Throughout May, we aim to reach our required levels of compliance with all training and then maintain those levels consistently. To help everyone to do that, we’re running Mandatory May. Mandatory May is an opportunity to undertake those training requirements that require face to face assessment. I encourage everyone to book those sessions as soon as possible.
Completing our mandatory and requisite training on a regular basis means we maintain our skills and knowledge, and we better respond to the needs of our patients.
Clinical Council EOI
Redcliffe Hospital’s Clinical Council is our peak clinician body, advocating for clinical excellence and contributing to the strategic leadership of the hospital. Expressions of Interest are now being called to join the Council.
Lastly this week, thanks to Amanda Brimson from the HR team and everyone who took part in this week’s Special Staff Forum, where we talked more about our Have Your Say Staff Survey results. The session went for about twice as long as we expected, with lots of discussion and engagement from participants around how we can make Redcliffe Hospital a truly great place to work.
I listen to understand so we make the best decisions. #IamRedcliffe.
