Adj. Assoc. Prof. Sally Taranec, Acting Executive Director, Redcliffe Hospital

Earlier this week, I was pleased to join our maternity team as we thanked the donors and contributors who have made our new Jacaranda Suite possible. The Jacaranda Suite is a purpose-designed room in the maternity ward for women and families experiencing pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or needing extra support and care during their time with us.

The suite has already been put to good use, and we can expect it will help between 40 and 50 women and families each year. Thank you once again to the Redcliffe Hospital Auxiliary, Freemasons, Heart in Hand, EMTEC Furniture, REDDY Fun & Fitness, and Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital.

Redcliffe Hospital Giving Day – Next Friday

We’re now only one week away from the biggest day in the Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital calendar – Redcliffe Hospital Giving Day. There’s still time to get involved, with several shifts still available in the ‘Phone Action Hub’, where volunteers will be taking and making calls for donations on the day. If you can volunteer some of your own time next Friday between 8am and 6pm, please sign up now.  Last year, Giving Day raised more than $170,000 for the hospital. With your help, we can Raise it for Redcliffe again this year.

Clinical Council Deputy Chair

Our Clinical Council plays an enormously influential and important role in the strategic leadership of the Hospital. Expressions of Interest remain open for the position of Deputy Chair of the Council. The role is available to those who hold a senior clinical role at Redcliffe Hospital and demonstrate Metro North Values and the behaviours championed by #IamRedcliffe. Find out more. The EOI now closes on Tuesday, 1 November.

#IamRedcliffe Team of the Month

At our Staff Forum this week, we announced Grant Carey-Ide as our #IamRedcliffe Team of the Month for September. Grant is our Acting Director of Safety and Quality and was recognised this month for the way he leads by example, models our Metro North values, and brings out the best in those around him.

Congratulations also to our three other nominees this month, Sasikala Gurung, Joanne Yates, and Sally Ware. Nominations for the October #IamRedcliffe Team of the Month close next Friday at 5pm.

Listening Post

The Have Your Say and the Working for Queensland surveys are two important ways that everyone can help make Redcliffe Hospital a truly great place to work. Another way is by coming along to our Listening Posts to chat directly with Metro North Health’s Chief Executive, Jackie Hanson, and the Chief Operating Officer, Jane Hancock. The next of these sessions at Redcliffe will be on Monday 24 October, between 10am and Noon in the Education Centre. If you can, please come along.

Lastly, as part of our Health Equity agenda, a reminder that everyone is invited to our next Yarning Circle, which will be available on Teams from Noon on Thursday, 3 November. Look out for that appointment in your Outlook Calendar.

Kind regards,

Sally Taranec
Acting Executive Director
