Message from the Acting Executive Director

2023-01-04T09:57:24+10:0023 December 2022|Facility Messages, Redcliffe Hospital|

We’ve had some very busy days this week, and throughout, I’ve seen some great examples of teams coming together to support each other.

We’ve also worked as a team with other hospitals and services across Metro North. This teamwork has enabled us to achieve some outstanding outcomes for our patients.

In particular, I’d like to highlight a great example of collaboration between surgery and medical imaging that allowed two patients to receive the treatment they needed before Christmas. This particular kind of intervention had not been done before at Redcliffe, but the teamwork, collaboration, clinical governance and drive for the best patient care allowed it to happen successfully.

Thank you to everyone who has found new ways or adapted their way of working this year to provide better and safer care for patients. This is truly an example of how we’re stronger when we work together.

Christmas decoration competition

Once again this year, an enormous amount of effort has been put into decorations and displays for our Christmas decoration competition. Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to make the hospital a brighter place for patients and each other.

Judging the competition was a tough job, and it was a lot of fun seeing the many different takes on this year’s theme, “Summer Christmas – it’s going to be hot”.

We’re pleased to announce the winner of this year’s competition is Finance with their entry “Funcorp”.

The judges were very impressed with 5 East too and awarded their display a highly commended.

Photos from this year and previous years’ decoration competitions are available on QHEPS.

A reminder to everyone that decorations and displays can remain in place until New Year’s day. After that, we ask everyone to please take them down carefully and safely.

Wishlist Grants

More good news this week with the announcement of this year’s Raise it for Redcliffe Wishlist Grant recipients. This year, eight projects will receive funding for projects that benefit patients and staff.

There were 18 grant applications this year, and I’d like to thank everyone who worked so hard putting those applications together.

None of these grants would be possible without the hard work we all put in throughout the year to support Raise it for Redcliffe and our partners, the RBWH Foundation.

Congratulations again to those involved in projects to be funded by these grants.

On a personal note from me

This has been my first week in the role of Acting Executive Director, and I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me in the transition – it has demonstrated to me how amazing, and supportive our staff truly are.

Over the Christmas and New Year week, there will be some changes to opening hours for some services, like Zouki Cafe. For full details of what is open and when click here.

In most ways though, our hospital will operate on Christmas Day just like any other Sunday. Our Emergency Department never closes its doors. Demand for birth suite and theatres doesn’t stop either – and our hospital can’t function without all of our incredible staff.

Thank you to everyone who will provide and support patient care this weekend. Your compassion and kindness will mean a lot to our patients and their families.

I hope too, that everyone will have time to share this weekend with their families and those they care about. After another busy year – it’s something we all deserve. I’ll be spending Christmas at home with my family, including my 100-year-old Grandfather in-law, who has lots of stories to share.

However you’ll be spending Christmas – I hope it’s a happy and safe one.
