I had the opportunity recently to walk through the new Caboolture Satellite Hospital. When it opens in a few weeks, the satellite hospital will include a minor injury and illness clinic caring for adults and children with non-life-threatening conditions. Like Metro North’s Virtual Emergency Department, this clinic will be another option for patients and families needing urgent care, giving them more choice and convenience while reducing the pressure on our hospital’s emergency department.
#IamRedcliffe Team of the Month – June
We presented the June #IamRedcliffe Team of the Month at our Staff Forum on Thursday. Congratulations to all of our 11 nominees, including:
- the Education Team,
- the Child Protection Unit,
- Emma Nicholls and the Preadmission Team,
- the Medical Outreach Service,
- PACU
- Scott Trudgett
- Ward 6 East
- Ward 4 West
- Nadia Parsons, and
- the Emergency Department.
The winner for June was Louise Hutt. Those who nominated Louise pointed out that she’s an experienced and passionate nurse who drives excellence in older person care. Congratulations again to Louise.
Among that list of nominees this month, I’d like to acknowledge in particular Scott Trudgett for his work in supporting mandatory training across the hospital and Ward 6 East for their professionalism and flexibility in helping us care for patients with acute respiratory illnesses.
Nominations for the July #IamRedcliffe Team of the Month close tomorrow.
Supporting the Auxiliary and a greener tomorrow
There’s now a way that we can help the Redcliffe Hospital Auxiliary raise funds and support recycling for a greener tomorrow.
New Containers for Change bins have been installed in the cafe areas for cans and bottles – the proceeds go directly to the hospital Auxiliary.
Smaller bins will soon be rolled out to staff break rooms as well.
Enterprise Scheduling Management (ESM) update
Enterprise Scheduling Management (ESM) is the ambulatory outpatient scheduling module of the integrated electronic Medical Record (ieMR) that will go live at Redcliffe Hospital on Monday, 24 July.
Out of the 120 staff identified as needing training in the new system, more than 100 have already booked their classroom sessions. Those classroom sessions will be delivered in the hospital’s new Digital Training Hub – the building formerly used as the fever clinic at the front of the hospital.
The rollout of ESM is the first step in Redcliffe Hospital’s ieMR digital transformation journey.
Find out more about how ESM will work.
DonateLife Week
There are currently around 1,800 people on organ waitlists across Australia. During DonateLife week, we’re all being asked to take one minute to give someone a lifetime.
It takes just one minute to register your decision to donate.
DonateLife Week is also the perfect time to have that important conversation with our family about your wishes when it comes to organ and tissue donation.
At Redcliffe during DonateLife week, we’ll be lighting up the Main Building in magenta, there will be an information booth in the foyer, and there may even be some cupcakes to share.
If you’d like to get involved, talk to our Donation Specialist Nurse, Barb Williams.
DonateLife Week starts on Sunday, 23 July.
Redcliffe Hospital Expansion EOI for staff
Lastly this week, a reminder that Expressions of Interest close today for staff to join the user groups that will help guide the rollout of the Redcliffe Hospital Expansion.
It’s essential that we have engagement with staff from all professions and parts of our hospital. Already we’ve seen more than 130 staff put their hands up to join the 26 different user groups.
Find out more and submit your EOI.
Louise.
