Our public health and infection prevention teams have been doing a great job this week in responding to that positive measles case in our local community.

That positive case was in the Redcliffe Hospital Emergency Department last Thursday (13 July) between 4:15pm and 10pm and last Friday (14 July) between 8:45am and 4pm.

Contact tracing has been undertaken for patients and staff who may have had contact. Anyone who has not been contacted by our Infection Prevention team and was in the Emergency Department during those times should contact Infection Prevention on 3883 7300.

Measles is not a trivial illness, but thankfully, it’s very rare in our community. The reason it’s so rare is because of how successful vaccinations have been since the 1960s.

Queensland Health recommends that anyone born in 1966 or after who has not had two documented doses of measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine or had proven measles should visit their doctor to get vaccinated.

If you’re in any doubt about your vaccination status for:

• Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
• Whooping cough (Pertussis) or
• Chicken pox (Varicella)

Redcliffe Hospital Staff Excellence Awards

Nominations for this year’s Redcliffe Hospital Staff Excellence Awards open next week.

Anyone who works at Redcliffe Hospital can be nominated for these awards, including staff members, volunteers and students.

The awards to be presented this year include:

• People Focus
• Innovation
• Excellence in Performance
• Leadership
• Values in Action
• Excellence in Integrated Care
• Excellence in Training and Education

This year, we will also present a new Health Equity award, celebrating those making our care better and safer for our Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities.

The awards themselves will be presented on Monday, 28 August. We’ll make sure they’re broadcast on Teams so everyone can share them too.

Our staff excellence awards are proudly supported by QSuper, part of Australian Retirement Trust.

Enterprise Scheduling Management (ESM) update

Classroom training for Enterprise Scheduling Management (ESM), the ambulatory outpatient scheduling module of the integrated electronic Medical Record (ieMR), starts next Monday.

Classroom training will be held at the newly refitted Digital Training Hub – the building formerly used as the fever clinic at the front of the hospital.

Staff who are required to complete ESM training have been booked in by their line manager and informed when their classroom session is occurring. Please ensure you complete online prerequisite training before attending your classroom training session.

The rollout of ESM is the first step in Redcliffe Hospital’s ieMR digital transformation journey.

July People and Culture Forum

At this month’s People & Culture forum, the team arranged for a presentation from Metro North’s Ethical Standards Unit on identifying and dealing with suspected corrupt conduct.

It’s an important subject and something we should all understand.

That session was recorded and will be available on QHEPS soon.

Redcliffe Hospital Expansion update

More than 150 staff have volunteered to join user groups that will guide the Expansion rollout. That EOI closed last Friday night. A separate EOI is now underway with our hospital consumers for their participation in those user groups. Thank you to everyone who put their hand up to help. Those user groups will start meeting in mid-August.

This week, we’ve also moved ahead with arranging cultural awareness sessions for the contractors who will be working on the hospital site. These sessions will help those teams understand the cultural history of the land on which the hospital was built. Thanks again to Elwyn and Mellissa for helping with those sessions.

DonateLife event

Lastly this week, well done to everyone who competed last week in DonateLife’s Amazing Race.

The Redcliffe Hospital team competed against around a dozen other teams, including those from the RBWH, TPCH, and Metro South hospitals.

While the PAH team went home with the main prize, the Redcliffe Hospital team was recognised for their style and #IamRedcliffe spirit with an award for the best dressed on the day.
