Dr Kim Hansen, Acting Executive Director, Redcliffe Hospital

After this week, I’ll step back to my usual role as Medical Director of Critical Care, Women’s and Children’s Service Line. I have an enhanced appreciation of the amazing work that you do at Redcliffe Hosptial and how every single role contributes to that – thank you for all you do! To paraphrase my primary school motto – “It take many hands to build a house but many hearts to make a hospital.”

Refresh #IamRedcliffe Agreed Behaviours

People and Culture Services is seeking Expressions of Interest for Champions to be part of a focus group to refresh the #IamRedcliffe Agreed Behaviours.

Over two workshops the focus group will review feedback from the 2023 Staff Forums and formulate a draft of the refreshed Agreed Behaviours. The first workshop will be held on 20 February 2024 8:30-11:30 for two hours. The second workshop will be one hour with a date yet to be set.

If you would like to take part in the focus group, please first seek approval from your line manager.

To register your interest please email Manager People and Culture Services at amanda.brimson@health.qld.gov.au by close of business 31 January 2024 with the following information.

  • Name, work unit and your preferred contact details (email and telephone).
  • A short statement on why you are interested in being part of the focus group.
  • Confirmation you have the support of your line manager to participate.
  • Confirmation you can commit to both workshops.

Once nominations have been received and reviewed, People and Culture Services will notify you of the outcome of your application. Invites for the sessions will follow shortly after that.

Upcoming car park closure and vehicle access changes

As we are all aware, several at-grade car parks have permanently closed as Multiplex establish their construction site for the new Clinical Services Building. In the coming weeks, the main public car park (P1), which is currently operating at 50% capacity, will entirely close. Patients and visitors can continue to park in the multi-storey car park (P0), Sheehan St Car Park (P5) and the MBICC Car Park (P6); however, parking will become constrained on the hospital campus during peak periods. As per previous communications with staff, temporary overflow parking for day-shift staff (with existing car park passes) is being arranged at the Redcliffe Showgrounds. More information about the showgrounds car park will be shared with staff as soon as the details and timeframes are finalised.

The permanent closure of P1 will also impact vehicle access to the multi-storey car park. Vehicle access to the Emergency Department, Main Hospital drop-off zone or Transit Lounge will continue to be via Anzac Avenue; however, vehicle access to the multi-storey car park will be via Recreation Street only. The permanent closure of P1 and the subsequent access changes are scheduled to occur in mid-February. Please continue to monitor signage and keep an eye on our staff communications for more information about these impacts as we get closer to this date.

Health Equity Workshops

I strongly encourage that all staff attend the Health Equity workshops that are coming up in February. It is a great opportunity to ensure that we are all in line with Metro North Health’s goal for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing health services will receive high-quality person-centred care that is culturally responsive. Topics that will be covered are:

  • What is Health Equity
  • Overview of Health Equity strategy
  • Overview of the five (5) KPAs
  • Responsibility of all staff to contribute to achieving HE and the associated actions against the KPA’s

The workshops will take place in the training rooms on 1 February, 8 February & 21 February. Two to three sessions will run on each date for approximately 1.5 hours.

From Tuesday 30 January 2024, a series of information sessions introducing basic components of the ieMR’s functionality will commence. These sessions will provide staff an opportunity to gain knowledge and ask questions about common aspects of the ieMR’s functionality.

The first of these half-hour sessions – held at 2.30pm on Tuesday 30 January, and available to join both in-person and virtually – will provide a basic introduction to the ieMR, demonstrating the log-in process and landing pages end-users will encounter. Please see below further details and the access link for Tuesday’s session.
