There’s always a lot happening at Redcliffe Hospital, but next Monday will be bigger than usual.
On Monday morning, Metro North Health will be launching the new Disability Services Action Plan here at Redcliffe with a vidcast from Chief Executive Jackie Hanson, Chief Allied Health Practitioner Mark Butterworth, and Disability Program Director Shannon Dawson.
I encourage everyone to join that vidcast from 10am. As part of those launch activities, we’ll be welcoming a range of disability and community service providers to join us in the Staff Courtyard for our first Staff BBQ of 2024.
Then, from 12:30pm, we’ll be hosting a Disability Symposium in the Education Centre where hospital staff can learn more about what the Disability Services Action Plan means for clinicians and our consumers.
Meanwhile, in the Education Centre, our latest cohort of new starters will be welcomed to Redcliffe and Metro North. As part of their orientation, they’ll be introduced to our values, commitment to Health Equity, and what it means to say #IamRedcliffe.
On Monday afternoon, thanks to Raise it for Redcliffe, we’ll officially open the new Rehabilitation and Stroke Unit courtyard, and thank those who helped make it possible.
Thank you to everyone who will be helping make all of these events a success on Monday.
Expansion works update
We held another Infrastructure Forum this week, and the infrastructure team also gave an update at the Staff Forum as well. staff can sign up for the staff-only car park in the Redcliffe Showgrounds. To receive an invitation to those Infrastructure Forums, click here.
As the Expansion continues, keep an eye out in your Outlook inbox for Construction Updates. These notices have important information about how works may impact the way we use and move about the campus. The project team also remind everyone that we can expect an increase in construction noise as the works ramp-up over the next few weeks. Multiplex has controls in place to minimise noise, vibration, and other impacts, and the Metro North project team is working closely with contractors to monitor and minimise those impacts. A reminder too that as car parking gets more challenging on the hospital campus,Team of the Month
At our Staff Forum on Thursday, we presented the February Team of the Month award to both Francis McDonnell and Dr Matthew Travers.
Francis received the award for being a responsive and caring Safety Officer who provides expert recommendations that help keep everyone safe at work. Dr Travers received his award for his strong commitment to his colleagues’ wellbeing. There were seven other nominees for the award in February, including the Ultrasound team, Paul Chan, Amarney Gould and Rebecca Moore, Medical Imaging assistants, Hospital Coordinators, the Theatre Emergency Room team, and Mia Maclean.Nominations for the March Team of the Month award are now open.
Making it count more
Our campaign to make our clinical work count more contines this week with another coding tip from Health Information Services.
>Document links between diagnoses, results, and care plans.
- SBP (down arrow) – commence IV fluids – document hypotension.
- BNP 900 – IV frusemide – Document CCF.
- Consolidation on CXR – commence IVAB’s – document likely bacterial pneumonia.
These tips are all about making sure our clinical records are as accurate as possible, and that we receive all the funding that the hospital is entitled to.If you have any questions about how your team can make it count more, talk to Health Information Services on 3883 7295.
Lastly this week, today we celebrate International Women’s Day – the highlight of Queensland Women’s Week.
Queensland Women’s Week 2024 runs from 3 to 10 March and celebrates the achievements and leadership of Queensland women and girls. This year’s theme, Count Her In, aligns with the United Nations International Women’s Day theme of Count Her In – Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress. At Redcliffe and Metro North, we celebrate Queensland women all year round – with inspiring leaders, talented clinicians, and dedicated staff, volunteers and consumers at all levels of our organisation – from the very top down. During Queensland Women’s Week and International Women’s Day, I encourage everyone to reflect on the ground we still have yet to cover in empowering all in our community, and in creating a thriving, gender-equal community.Louise.
