Louise O’Riordan, Acting Executive Director

I am Redcliffe stickerOne of the things that I’m most proud of during my time as Acting Executive Director has been the launch of I am Redcliffe and our new Agreed Behaviours.

Thank you again to all those staff members who participated in the focus groups and provided the feedback that informed that change and update.

I encourage everyone to get to know our new nine Agreed Behaviours better.

Along with I am Redcliffe and our new Agreed Behaviours, the People and Culture team have also released the new Redcliffe Hospital People Plan.

The People Plan is our hospital’s response to everything we learned in the Have Your Say Staff Survey.

Have Your Say Employee Action Plan 2023-25 campaign adAt the Metro North level, we also have the Metro North Health Employee Engagement Action Plan 2023-25, the Metro North-wide
response to staff feedback in last year’s Have
Your Say Staff Survey.

As part of the Metro North Action Plan, there’s an opportunity for anyone with a passion for improving Redcliffe Hospital and Metro North as a workplace, to put forward an expression of interest (EOI) to be part co-designing projects under that Plan.

Staff flu vaccinations

Redcliffe Hospital Staff Flu Vaccination times and locationsAn annual flu vaccination is one of the best ways to protect yourself, our patients and our families as we head into the busier winter months.

At Redcliffe, we will kick off our annual staff flu vaccination campaign on Monday 15 April.

Hospital staff, students, and volunteers can access a free influenza vaccination from pop-up clinics in the Education Centre, Emergency Department, and Operating Theatres and from a roving trolley that will visit different wards and clinical areas.

Find out more about when those free clinics will be available.

Nursing and Midwifery Awards

Nursing and Midwifery the heartbeat of health graphicNominations are now open for this year’s Metro North Nursing and Midwifery Awards. The Awards are part of our International Day of the Midwife and International Nurses Day 2024 celebrations.

This year, eight award categories celebrate excellence and achievement in clinical practice, and professionalism in championing our Metro North values. There are also awards for nurses, midwifery leaders, and those just starting their careers.

Please take a moment to consider all those outstanding nurses and midwives we work with at Redcliffe each day – and submit a nomination. Nominations close Friday 12 April.

Making it count more

Make It Count campaignThis week’s tip from Health Information Services on how to make it count more is:

Adhesions? – Document the cause.

Examples:

  • Adhesions due to previous surgery
  • Adhesions due to disease
  • Adhesions – congenital.

If you have any questions about how your team can make it count more, talk to Health Information Services on 3883 7295.

Metro North Board

Over the Easter long weekend, we said goodbye and thankyou to Jim McGowan AM as Metro North Board Chair and retiring Board members Bonny Barry, Professor Mary-Louise Fleming, Geoff Hardy, and Neil Roberts.

They’re all well-known to us here at Redcliffe – but we’re particularly grateful to Neil Roberts for his involvement with our Clinical Council, and Jim McGowan, who has been with us through so much over the past few years.

We welcome Bernard Curran as the new Metro North Board Chair and several new Board members. I encourage everyone to read more about our new Board Chair and Board members.

Lastly this week, a reminder that next Monday we’ll also welcome Cang Dang to Redcliffe as our new Executive Director. Please come along to the Staff BBQ to say hello and introduce yourself.

I will be staying on to do a handover with Cang for the next two weeks and then moving into the Office of the Metro North Chief Operating Officer as Director Strategic Operations and Innovation from 22 April. We will be recruiting to backfill the Redcliffe Hospital Director of Safety and Quality.

Louise.
